1. UNESCO Memory of the World International Register <Confucian Printing Woodblocks in Korea> Touring Exhibition

A touring exhibition of the <Confucian Printing Woodblocks in Korea>, which are inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register, and documentary heritage held by the Korean Studies Institute.

An exhibition celebrating the publication of 100 volumes of the collection catalog of the Korean Studies Institute.

Byeongsan Seowon

Before it became a Confucian academy, Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy was originally located in Pungsang-hyeon under the name Pungakseodang School, which was used as a educational institution since the Goryeo dynasty by a political party known as the Sarim Party. It was moved to its current location in Byeongsan by a well-respected Confucian scholar named Yu Seong-nyong, penname Seoae, in 1572, and renamed to Byeongsanseowon in 1614.
In 1863, Byeongsanseowon was recognized by the king to receive support as a private Confucian academy. The lecture hall and shrine were reconstructed in 1921 and 1937 respectively as part of preservation efforts made during the Japanese occupation. This academy is designated as a Historic Site, housing a collection of 1,000 documents and 3,000 books, including works by Yu Seong-nyong.

Hahoe Folk Village

The village is famous for being the home of the Joseon Dynasty's Confucian scholars, Sir Gyeomam Ryu Unryong and Sir Seo-ae Ryu Seongryong. The village is a one-clan village of the Pungsan Ryu family, where the family members have resided. The name 'Hahoe' came from the fact that the river flow of Nakdonggang surrounds the village. The village is famous for Byeolsin Gut Mask Dance and Hahoe Mask. The whole village is designated as Important Folk Material. The UNESCO listed Hahoe Village as a World Heritage Site with Yangdong Folk Village at the 34th World Heritage Committee held in Brasilia, Brazil in July 2010 (July 31, 2010) as the 10th World Heritage of Korea. In the resolution of the listing, UNESCO evaluated that the 'Korean Historic Village: Hahoe & Yangdong' clearly shows the social structure and original Confucian aristocrat culture with the harmony, the method of placement, and the traditional residence culture among the residence constructions, pavilions, shrines, and Confucian schools, all of which tradition compares favorably to be enlisted as World Heritage as the custom is preserved intact for a long time. The committee also highly appreciated that there were literary works, artworks, academic and cultural achievements by Joseon Dynasty's Confucian scholars. Intangible cultural heritage related to the life and belief of the people, including new year's traditions and traditional family events of coming-of-age ceremonies, marriage and funeral services, ancestral rites, etc., all of which had been handed down over generations.

Dosan Seowon

Dosan Seowon was established in 1574 in Andong, South Korea, in memory of and four years after the death of Korean Confucian scholar Toegye Yi Hwang by some of his disciples and other Korean Confucian authorities. Dosan Seowon serves two purposes: education and commemoration.
The site was well known in Korea with Oksan Seowon, located in Gyeongju as two leading academies, and was home to the Toegye School of Thought for over 400 years. This old educational institute representing Korean education was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019.
